The Hook In The Jaw? Golan Heights Black Gold-Israel Strikes Oil

The following from

[{There’s oil in them northern Golan Heights … A LOT of oil, according to experts involved in drilling for the black gold over the past year.

Enough, in fact, to potentially make Israel self-sufficient for many years to come, according to Afek Oil and Gas chief geologist Dr. Yuval Bartov, who spoke on Wednesday with Israel’s Channel 2 TV news. Afek is a subsidiary of Genie Energy, a U.S. firm.

“We are talking about a strata which is 350 meters thick and what is important is the thickness and the porosity,” Bartov said.

“On average in the world strata are 20-30 meters thick, so this is ten times as large as that, so we are talking about significant quantities. The important thing is to know the oil is in the rock and that’s what we now know.”

The potential for production is huge: barrels in the billions, certainly enough to provide for decades of local consumption in a country which uses 270,000 barrels per day.

But now the question comes down to production costs – and the cost to the environment.

How easily can the oil be extracted from the ground, and what will such a process do to the flora and fauna in the area around the production site, if anything?

The debate over the latter issue might cost the state millions in political wrangling alone, not including the very real issue of how the environment will need to be protected. The complexities involved in extracting the oil may also end up being a more costly or lengthy process, depending on how far down the black gold runs and how difficult it is to bring up.

All of that assumes, of course, that the geopolitical debates over the Golan Heights will have been put to rest by the time the region’s oil production is ready to flow.

Exploratory drilling which began in December 2014 ended with three sites being tapped. Afek recently submitted a request to the government for authorization to drill an additional 10 wells.

And I will turn you about and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you out, and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed in full armor, a great host, all of them with buckler and shield, wielding swords. Ezekiel 38:4

Afek Oil and Gas Company, an Israeli subsidiary of US Genie Energy recently discovered oil in the Golan Heights ten times larger than the worldwide average. Though these findings are still in the preliminary stages, if extracted and monetized this would serve as one of the largest cash cows in history. The disputed Golan Heights is recognized by the UN as Syrian territory though Israel has controlled the territory since the Six Day War of 1967.

Upon reading this article my hope is that you are able to see that all the moving pieces, from the name of the oil company to the present conflict in Syria are not coincidence. Everything taking place in the present has been alluded to in the Biblical text. While many interpret prophecy strictly in the literal sense, I believe it is multidimensional and offers many layers which point to even more remarkable specificity than we can imagine. Furthermore, it is my belief that one prophetic passage speaks literally about one primary event but beyond this there are foreshadows and parallels repeated throughout all of history. There truly is nothing new under the sun.

In Deuteronomy 4 Golan is a literal city in Bashan, where king Og of the Rephaim resided. The name means “circle, fortress, passage, refuge or revolution”. In Arabic it means “go about, around”.

Golan was also a city of refuge east of Jordan found multiple times in Joshua.

Heights and Mt. Hermon

And they were in all two hundred; who descended in the days of Jared on the summit of Mount Hermon, and they called it Mount Hermon, because they had sworn and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it. Enoch 6:6

The highest point in the Golan Heights is Mt. Hermon. The infamous place of arrival by the fallen angels spoken of in the Book of Enoch and spoken of in Genesis 6 and Jude. Mt Hermon is the highest point in Israel. The part controlled by Israel rises 7,336 feet above sea level. The highest point of Mt. Hermon is 9,232 feet on the Syria/Lebanon border.

There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. Genesis 6:4

And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Jude 1:61211px-Fallen_angels_a_deceiver_apollyon_francis_barrett_the_magusIt is believed by many, including myself, that this is the mountain of transfiguration. At the very location that instigated the deluge, in Matthew 16 at the base of the mountain Jesus rebukes the Pharisees for being unable to discern the times. In Matthew 17, He declared who He was at the very location the fallen angels descended in rebellion against The Most High. Interestingly as you see above, “revolution” is one of the words for Golan. Revolution is also a synonym for “transfiguration”. The rebellion on Mt. Hermon, became the launching pad for the One who breathed all life into existence for the ultimate revolution of humanity. On this rock He builds His church and the gates of hell shall not prevail.

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is? Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say Jeremiah or one of the other prophets. Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am? Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God. Jesus replied, “You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being. Now I say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it. And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.” Matthew 16:13-19

We see another interesting parallel in Ezekiel 17.

Thus saith the Lord God; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent: In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell. Ezekiel 17:22-23

The highest point in Lebanon. The highest point of Mt. Hermon is on the Lebanon border. Lebanon was known for its cedars. Here we have the highest point, or Mt. Hermon and dwelling under the shadow of the branches, this also hints to Psalm 91.

Aphek according to Strong’s concordance means “Aphek, Aphik Or raphiyq {af-eek’}; from ‘aphaq (in the sense of strength); fortress; Aphek (or Aphik), the name of three places in Palestine — Aphek, Aphik.” Brown-Driver-Briggs says “Aphek (perhaps enclosure, or fortress)”. Joshua 12 talks about the King of Aphek as well as Og king of Bashan (Rephaim/Giants) and Mt. Hermon. Further mentions can be found in 1 Sam.4, 1 Sam. 29, and 2 Kings 13.

Then he commanded, “Open that eastern window,” and he opened it. Then he said, “Shoot!” So he shot an arrow. Elisha proclaimed, “This is the Lord’s arrow, an arrow of victory over Aram, for you will completely conquer the Arameans at Aphek.” 2 Kings 13:17

Arameans refers to present day Syria. When we go back to Joshua 12 and look to the east of the Golan Heights we see another parallel. “Now these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other side Jordan toward the rising of the sun, from the river Arnon unto mount Hermon, and all the plain on the east” Joshua 12:1

Later on in this chapter you see the list of territories taken by Israel to the east which would be present day Syria. The current borders of Israel are much more confined than the Biblical borders. Despite the global disdain for the nation which currently occupies a sliver of land smaller than most states in the US, their current borders are but a fraction of what they will become in the future.

Definition: a spirit of Arabian folklore, as traditionally depicted imprisoned within a bottle or oil lamp, and capable of granting wishes when summoned.

A genie in a bottle can grants wishes, but can a genie fit in a lamp that is full of oil? We have the oil in terms of black gold, and this is certainly the type that Genie Energy and its subsidiary Afek Oil and Gas are looking for. The more important question is how many in present day Israel have enough oil in their lamps?

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1 (911)

Two spirits encircle the modern day unfolding of prophecy. In the Arabic meaning of Golan we see “go around” or circumvent and in Hebrew we see fortress. The fortress or place of refuge has no need to circumvent, for they dwell in the shadow of The Most High, our Mighty Fortress in the time of trouble. A Genie may grant wishes for those who seek personal gain but in the end without oil in their lamp they have nothing. Aphek and Golan both allude to fortress and refuge and as the hook in the jaw may bring the Arameans, with Gog and Magog to plunder it will be to their own demise.
